Shichi-go-san is a traditional Japanese event to celebrate children’s growth.Many families go to shrines or temples and pray for the healthy growth of their children.The children are dressed in traditional kimono.Shichi-go-san is one of the few chances when you can see Japanese people wearing kimono.

When children visit during Shichi-Go-San, they are given a long, thin stick-shaped candy called Chitose-ame. Chitose means “one thousand years.” It symbolizes health and a long life.
