Tokyo portrait photoshoot
in beautiful natural
surroundings
Throughout the year there is usually something seasonal like cherry blossoms and autumn leaves and colorful to incorporate into our images which help to frame the subjects, and tell the story about that particular time of the year.
Sakura(Cherry blossoms)
Cherry blossoms are very popular not only with Japanese people but also with tourists from abroad. When I was taking photo shoot last year, I felt that there were more tourists from abroad than Japanese people at popular cherry blossom spots.
There is a culture of enjoying cherry blossom viewing under the cherry trees, and this is called "OHANAMI." People who enjoy cherry blossom viewing usually reserve a spot in the morning and enjoy a drink & food while admiring the beautiful blooming cherry blossoms. For this reason, it is key takeaways to take photoshoot early in the morning when there are fewer people around.
Please note that the "first bloom" forecast date is different from the "full bloom" date. They can bloom much earlier than average when January/February are colder than usual but March is as usual or warmer than usual. They can bloom later than average when January/February are warmer than usual, and March is as usual or colder than usual. And Full blooming time can be shorter in some years since the petals fall off easily if there is a strong wind or heavy rain. Please note that the “first bloom” prediction date is not the same as “full bloom” (full bloom, until about one week after full bloom is the only truly photogenic time!).
Cherry blossoms often coincide with life milestones. The blooming season for cherry blossoms is short, and they bloom quickly and quickly fall apart. Its transience is similar to the transition of life. Cherry blossoms are not only visually beautiful, but this is also a major attraction of cherry blossoms.

Canola & Plum blossoms in Hamarikyu Gardens
The location of the photoshoot, Hamarikyu Gardens(Canola & Plum blossoms bloom late January – late March), is a great location, just 5 minutes walk from Tsukiji.
Be sure to enjoy some delicious sushi or fish dishes before or after the photoshoot. Also, Ginza is about 10 minutes walk away, so you can enjoy shopping or a coffee after the photoshoot. The Toyosu area, where TeamLab Planets is located, is about 10 minutes by taxi. Also, the distance between Zojoji Temple and Hamarikyu Gardens is about 10 minutes by taxi.
Autumn leaves(Ginkgo)
Tokyo’s autumn/fall is famous for the vibrant yellow leaves of Ginkgo trees commonly seen all over the city (late November – early December). The best time varies from year to year but late November – early December seems to be the safest time to plan a photoshoot with the yellow leaves of Ginkgo trees. However, some trees are photogenic in as early as mid November and also as late as mid December, depending on the location. Ginkgo trees are seen everywhere in central Tokyo from parks and gardens to busy commercial streets.
